As is often the case with new car releases, Aston Martin found it difficult to wait until the official unveiling of its Aston Martin V12 Vantage. The V12 Vantage will be unveiled in ‘the flesh’ at the Geneva Motor Show in about a month’s time but the official details and images are now ours to share.

Packing a 6.0-litre V12 engine, the newest Vantage is good for 380kWs and 570Nms. The V12 Vantage is expected to dispatch the 0-100km/h dash in around 4.2-seconds, while a top speed of over 300km/h is on the cards.

The eagle-eyed among you will note the handful of subtle differences that differentiate the V12 Vantage from its V8 powered brother.

A new vented bonnet and front bumper with larger intakes are the most notable changes up front, while new sill panels and wheels give the Vantage a more aggressive side profile.

Out back Aston has fitted a larger rear spoiler, a functional rear diffuser, clear taillights and a new dual exhaust system with larger tips.

Not much has been done to the interior of the V12 Vantage, which was already well appointed, but a piano gloss black trim centre and Alacantra wrapped steering wheel can be seen in the provided images.

Aston Martin is looking to begin customer deliveries in the third quarter of this year but has announced that only 1000 examples will be produced. The one piece of news that has not been revealed, the price, will be confirmed at the Geneva show.

The DBS was developed as the ultimate expression of Aston Martin’s engineering and technical ability. The need for high-performance stability, handling ability and low kerb weight defined the car’s form and construction. The DBS is the first production Aston Martin to make extensive use of ultra-light carbon-fibre body panels. The 6.0-litre V12 engine is the heart of the DBS. The DBR9 and DBRS9 race cars are powered by an enhanced version of this same V12, tuned to produce in excess of 600 bhp. The shared powerplant continues the strong link between Aston Martin’s road and race cars, just as the six-cylinder powerplant used in the DBR1 also powered the DB4, DB5 and DB6 in the 1950s and 60s.

A true sports car has to be light and well balanced. A lightweight, rigid structure is the design engineer’s ultimate goal, and achieving the right balance between strength and mass is crucial. Like the DB9 and its sibling DBR9 and DBRS9 race cars, the DBS uses Aston Martin’s class-leading all-alloy VH (Vertical Horizontal) architecture, a lightweight bonded aluminium structure that provides outstanding strength and rigidity.

This structure means that weight is kept to a minimum, with the front-mid mounted engine and rear-mid mounted transaxle ensuring a near perfect weight distribution: 85% of the car’s weight is positioned within its wheelbase. The DBS’s polar moment of inertia is therefore very low, producing a car with natural agility, a strong, stable platform for the V12’s high power output and an exhilarating driving experience.
